Controversy

When you live a a world that is run by the father of lies and truth is presented there is bound to be controversy.

A controversial subject means it is debatable. When truth is presented there cannot be dispute, a debate unless one is holding onto the lie or half truth whatever it may be. If all people believed truth we would have no disagreement. The reality is we live in a world that is filled with half truths which are in reality lies.

2Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

How does the god of this world (or age) blind people?

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

He blinds people with lies and half truth (still lies), the things that are not true. So then how does one find and receive truth?

Jesus said speaking of God; Your word is truth (Jn. 17:17)

That is how we find and receive truth in Jesus and His Father's Word.

Jesus also said: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (Jn 14:6)

Whenever Jesus spoke, he spoke the truth and he spoke and lived it in love.
Once when speaking it was said of him.

John 10:20 And many of them said, “He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?”

So men say this even today why do you listen to Jesus or more often why do you hear and believe what the Bible says. They may say this in questioning to know more, or in refusal to hear what the Bible says. The humble are teachable, in the second case they are full of pride. The Bible says do not cast your pearls before swine, don't waste your time. We should know the bible is written for those who desire to know and believe the truth. It was not wrtten for the God rejector or those who refuse to believe. So the next time someone says they don't believe tell them it was not written for them but for those who truly desire to know the truth.

How enlightening what God said this about his son in Matthew.

17:5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”

Man said why hear him (listen to him) and God says hear him. So we have controversy. Who are you going to believe" well as for me and my house we will listen to God's son, by the scriptures.

All who stand for truth will find at times there will be those who come against them.

Acts 6:9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen.

Notice the dispute did not originate from Stephen, Stephen just spoke the truth.
But we are not to dispute (argue) with people. We are to speak God's truth in love if they want to dispute, show them the truth and let them argue with God.

Acts 19:8 And he (Paul) went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.

Paul endeavored to discuss and reason with people from the scriptures and let the Word of God speak for itself.

Acts 17:2, 3 Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.”

So if you are going to stand for truth there will be controversy, but it is far better to be strong in the Lord then to cower in defeat because of men.
